My name is Jeremy and I am training to truly compete for the first time in my life. Not just to participate and cross the finish line, but to compete and win.
Over the past few years I have witnessed a complete overhaul in my daily routine and habits, all for the better. Through CrossFit and following a Paleo lifestyle, I lost weight and improved my overall health and wellness. Without hubris, I am in the best shape of my life, but I could be even better. I have a lot more to learn and more goals to reach.
In CrossFit, the term “goat” is something you hate doing or suck at, or both. I have never truly put myself in the “ring” in life. I am not overly aggressive and I tend to avoid confrontation. Competing is my “goat”.
In October 2013, I was asked by a friend to compete in a co-ed CrossFit competition. After 16 weeks of intense training, we took the field and gave it our all. Now, over two years later, I have competed in local and regional events and realized how competition has benefited my personal growth and development.
As an adult, training and competing present challenges and obstacles that we never had to face as a kid. But it also presents us with the unique opportunity to dig deep and connect with our true selves. Training to win in sport makes us reflect on how we can do a better job winning in all aspects of our lives, both at work and at home.
Follow me on my journey. I will be sharing all the highs and lows, tips and techniques, book reviews and recipes, and overall best practices that I utilize to be my best self. I will also be interviewing coaches and athletes from a wide variety of sports and backgrounds to get their advice and perspective. And to top it all off, I will be featuring frequent guest posts that will offer a more diverse view of what it means to compete as an adult.
